how we got here

hi, we’re bri and steph

we started the food cooker because we were tired of recipe blogs that take twelve years to get to the point and vegetarian recipes that replace the meat with chickpeas and beans

most of the recipes here come from us trying to feed ourselves for the week without getting bored halfway through it. we cook a lot on weekends, eat leftovers constantly, and put a weird amount of thought into whether something is going to reheat well

we mostly cook vegetarian with some fish mixed in, and a lot of our meals start with “what do we already have”

bri does most of the cooking. steph is usually nearby giving opinions, helping taste things, or reminding me that i haven’t added enough salt

you’ll probably find:

  • meal prep ideas
  • recipes that are forgiving if you wing it a little
  • crunchy things because ✨texture✨
  • soups
  • honest notes when something could’ve gone better, or when i blatantly disregarded recipe step to make things easier

i’m not a chef. i just cook a lot, experiment constantly, and want recipes to feel approachable instead of intimidating
